In collaboration with Mile End Community Project, BLOC, Tower Hamlets Resettlement and Migration Team, and supported by Refugee Week.

Join us for a special evening of film featuring an official Refugee Week selection of short films exploring stories of resilience, belonging, and hope from around the world.

Through powerful and thought-provoking storytelling, this programme invites audiences to reflect on what it means to leave home, build new lives, and hold onto identity across cultures.

Blending documentary, fiction, and animation, the films explore themes of migration, family, climate change, and courage.

Featuring the official selection of internationally recognised short films:

• Migrate Journey (2017)

Stories of struggle, resilience, and hope from first-generation Muslims who arrived in the UK and made Tower Hamlets their home.

• Tskaltubo (2023)

After 30 years in displacement, a couple face the emotional reality of starting over.

• Migrants (2020)

Two polar bears journey through a changing world, exploring survival and coexistence.

• Men in Towels (2026)

A love letter from an Afghan asylum seeker to the mother he may never see again - written in the steam of Community Sauna Baths, London.

• Hayat (2019)

An Eritrean mother navigates identity and belonging while raising her children in a new country.

• Romchyk (2024)

A young boy survives a devastating attack that takes his mother and leaves him seriously injured. A powerful reflection of resilience, highlighting the strength and courage of children affected by war.

• Aziza (2019)

A refugee couple’s driving lesson becomes a poignant journey through memory and loss.
