IT Services for Student Information

Students at QMUL can download the Microsoft Office Suite free. You can install it on up to five personal devices.

Office 365 includes the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote, Outlook and One Drive plus others.

MS Word

With Word you can:

  • Create a document from scratch or from a template .
  • Add text, images, art, and videos.
  • Research a topic and find credible sources.
  • Access your documents from a computer, tablet, or phone via OneDrive.
  • Share your documents and collaborate with others.
  • Track and review changes.

MS Outlook - Emails and Calendar 

With Outlook you can:

  • See everything you need to manage your day in one view.
  • Easily stay on top of emails, calendars, contacts, and to-do lists—at home or on the go.
  • Help keep your sentences concise and polished with suggestions as you write, plus intelligent spelling and grammar checks
  • Quickly send, edit, or read a document on the go. Use Word, Excel, or PowerPoint from your inbox, and securely link to your OneDrive files.

Advice and Guidance for Using Email at QMUL

Here are some simple rules to help keep you on the right track when sending email:

  • Take care that you address the email correctly
  • Do not use email for the creation or transmission of any material:
    • that is offensive, obscene or indecent
    • with the intent to defraud
    • that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, discriminatory or illegal
    • that infringes the copyright of another person
  • Do not send unsolicited bulk, commercial or advertising material to others (spam)
  • Do not allow anyone else to send email from your account (you will be held liable for any email or activity from your account) and do not send email purporting to come from someone else   
  • Do not tell or email anyone your password - IT Services staff will never ask you for your password
  • Do not open attachments from unknown sources - always virus scan a document received as an attachment in an email before opening it
  • Do not send confidential or restricted information in plain text (unencrypted) email.

MS Planner - Planning and Time Management

With Planner you can:

MS PowerPoint - Create Presentations

With PowerPoint you can:

Queen Mary University of London monitors and protects its IT Systems for the purposes of Operational Integrity, Policy Enforcement and Crime Prevention. Network traffic that poses a risk to any system connected to the network may be blocked.
