Profile
I completed a PhD in psycho-oncology in 2016, exploring how different psychosocial interventions could be used to support people in cancer survivorship. I then moved into the field of Social Psychiatry in 2017, when I took up a position of programme manager at the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry within the Centre of Psychiatry & Mental Health. During my time there I worked across, and led, a number of large studies and trials focusing on the development and testing of DIALOG+, a technology-assisted and solution-focused intervention intended to structure routine community care and improve quality of life for people with serious mental illness. This included receiving an NIHR grant in 2020 to develop and test an online communication software to allow for the remote delivery of DIALOG+.
In 2024 I joined the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Detection to contribute to the TRANSFORM trial as a behavioural scientist. The TRANSFORM trial is a £60 million, once in a generation trial, to find the best way to screen for prostate cancer in the UK.
Research
Research Interests:
My primary research interest is in using theory-informed practices to improve engagement with cancer screening practices, particularly prostate cancer. I am additionally interested in identifying and reducing health inequalities in this area through the application of behavioural insight and through the practice of meaningful PPI (patient and public involvement).
I also have an interest in how inequity within cancer care can impact on the LGBTQ+ community.
