Training
Developing a broad range of research and transferable skills is one of the most important elements of studying for a higher research degree. Through the Barts Doctoral Training Programme (DTP), all students will be encouraged to develop their skills in a number of ways. This includes that the Barts DTP will offer students a progressive development programme that will provide training in key areas encompassing:
- Research skills – including in data science and use of AI.
- Understanding health challenges of the East London population.
- Collaborating across different disciplines – including roundtables with clinicians and patients.
- Career development training, including transferable skills to prepare them for diverse career paths from academia to industry, and from policy to public engagement.
This will be coupled with each student’s own learning needs analysis and design of a bespoke training plan to support their development as a scientist and future research leader.
